This is one of the largest indoor tournaments in North America. Please expect roughly 600 (athletes, coaches, volunteers) for this event. I don't normally comment but the inconvenience this issue presents for members is a recurring one. You could alleviate the parking problem by diverting the event visitors to the Stampede parking lot and having participants bussed in. The parking lot should be reserved for members and staff.
We understand the impact sporting events hosted at Talisman Centre can have on our Members and we appreciate the support of all our of Members and Customers to continue to provide a facility that can accommodate both Calgarians and amateur athletes.
We strive to best balance our dual mandate by only hosting one impactful event per month, and offering at least one event-free Saturday every month.
Because we are a public facility and owned by The City of Calgary we cannot reserve our entire lot. We do however reserve half of our parking lot for Members Only. The other half is open for everyone's use. During these large events, we also offer free overlow parking at the Elbow River Casino with a valid Talisman Centre Parking Pass. To obtain a pass for the overflow parking, please see the Parking Attendant.
Thank you!
Talisman Centre
Thanks for taking the time to respond, but as anyone can see, the "reserved" section of the parking lot is not half the lot, but considerably less. This section is not just reserved for members, but also Lifemark and Cardiac Wellness. Again, it makes more sense and is more fair to members for you to offer the STampede Parking to visitors v.s. TC members.
This is the same boiler plate answer that is given every time there's a complaint. It's a little insulting as is your definition of "half the parking lot" reserved for members -- that small piece of the lot is far less than half!
